Hi! My name is Emily and I am one of Jenni's good friends. I asked Jenni for permission to start a gofundme page. Her immediate response was, "Nothing tragic has happened to me, I am not sure I would feel right asking for money." I said, "You aren't, I am. What has happened to you has been tragic and has been going on for years. Let me do it." She softly replied, "Ok."
Those of you who know Jenni well know her spirit and attitude is what draws people near her. Nearly three years ago when out for a simple hike, Jenni took a nasty fall shattering her shoulder. She had to hike out far enough for search and rescue to get her to the ER, what a trooper! She had countless surgeries, developed for a while what was an unidentifiable infection, pic lines of antibitocics that reaked havoc on her body, all the while not having use of her arm for nearly two years. Never once did I hear Jenni complain or ask for a handout. She remained so positive that she inspired me in my day to day.
FINALLY her arm was put back together and life seemed back on track. She was preparing for a trip to see her friend Melissa get married in the Domincan Republic when she found out she has developed an infection in her lymph nodes. Jenni thought, " I will deal with this upon my return." She made it to the Dominican with her sister and unfortunately collapsed injuring leg, ankle and knee bones. An emergency trip back to the US was next on the agenda causing her to miss the wedding she was so looking forward to.
Nurse Sister Stephanie to the rescue was there to accompany Jenni back to Kalamazoo, MI, where she is currently and trying to develop a plan to put her body back together. Due to said unfortunate events she has had to quit her job to focus on her healing. Jenni is hoping to make a trip to the Mayo Clinic to meet with some of the doctors who consulted on her arm to figure out the next plan of leg surgeries.
Jenni remains in daily physical therapy where she is determined to gain full use of her arm. Her monthly bill for physical therapy is $1000. Her hospital bills have soared to an all time high and what is around the corner for her leg, knee and ankle repair is unknown and scary. There is no doubt Jenni is a fighter and will get through this with a smile on her face!
As Jenni continues to move through this unfortunate turn of events she remains grateful for the support she has received from her family, friends and colleagues. I am asking if you have anything to spare I know Jenni would greatly appreciate any contribution you can make. Again, she is not asking for it, I am ;-)
