On the night of July 21st, 2025, my sister Jennifer was walking across a crosswalk outside of her apartment. A car, traveling at least 35 mph, ran a red light and struck her while she was walking. Jenn was rushed to the nearest trauma ICU and sustained a severe traumatic brain injury, multiple facial fractures, compound fractures, a fractured pelvis, and more. Her injuries are quite literally head to toe.

After she recovered from her critical injuries at the trauma medical center, she was transferred to an acute inpatient rehabilitation hospital. It’s a miracle that she’s alive, and we’re so thankful she will eventually recover from this.

However, her road to recovery will be long, requiring intensive occupational, speech, and physical therapy. She must relearn how to think, speak, eat, stand, walk, take care of herself... the list goes on. She also requires at least 6-12 months of at-home caregiving and rehab once she's done at the acute inpatient facility. This means she'll be moving in with family, specifically me, her sister, as she continues to recover.

Unfortunately, the driver who hit my sister was unlicensed and uninsured. While Jenn has medical and auto insurance, the funds needed to support her recovery and rehabilitation far exceed what can be provided from Jenn’s insurance alone. This includes at-home durable medical equipment, travel expenses, moving expenses, care expenses, etc.

Asking for help isn't easy, but I know our family has an amazing support system rallying behind us and, even more importantly, Jenn. As I'm writing these words, I'm calling on our community and humbly asking for help to support my sister's financial needs.
