Jennifer's Legacy: Trust Fund for Eight Kids

The idea for this appeal came from all of you who have been kind enough to ask how you can help.

Jennifer Piercy died on February 7, 2023. She was a single mother of eight children between the ages of 21 and 11. They are now completely on their own. Jen did not have any savings or life insurance to help them through this, the unthinkable.

Jennifer’s oldest son Xavier is now the legal guardian of the three youngest children, 11-year-old triplets named Ashlee, Natiley and Trinity. Klausine is an adult and on her own in Alberta. Lunden will be an adult in November. He graduated from high school last year and he is waiting to go to school next year. In the meantime, he is in charge of school pick-ups, groceries and home improvement projects. He also is the cook of the house along with 17-year-old Georgia who is an honours student at school. Calleigh, also an excellent student, is 16. Xavier has gone back to work 4 days a week and, with our support (not that he needs much!), bravely fights through the red tape, bureaucracy and paperwork that come with their drastically changed situation.

To be completely clear, Jen raised eight exceptional humans who are incredibly capable and work well together. Thankfully there is government funding in place for this situation which allows them to survive. The kids will be able to stay in their rental home and will receive enough support to cover their basic monthly expenses.

Our family’s goal is to create a trust fund to provide them with some financial security as they move forward without their Mom. A trust fund would provide a safety net for things like car or house repairs, school trips, additional therapy, medical expenses, new furniture - the unexpected bills that throw a budget into disarray.

If we can raise enough money to ease the burden of some of these big picture expenses, maybe the future will seem less scary. Although they are doing a great job, Jennifer’s kids are still just kids. And we think you’ll agree, they deserve a shot at everything life has to offer.
