In Memory of Jennifer

Jennifer Giles was a musician, dog lover, teacher, mentor and friend who passed away unexpectedly on May 8th, leaving her network of friends in a state of shock and sadness.
Music was Jennifer’s passion: she thrived as a performer, inspired young students as a teacher and mentored fellow artists on their paths to success. Her poodles Bijou and JouJou have been her loves, as Jennifer spent hours walking in the National Arboretum or watching the dogs play in Brown’s Inlet Park. The many members of the Brown’s Inlet pet community became as important to her life as was her extended music family.
As a tribute to Jennifer, a few of her friends are mounting a campaign to honour her at Brown’s Inlet Park through the planting of a memorial tree and the placement of a commemorative bench which will be enjoyed by park users for years to come. This fundraising campaign set an original target of $4.500, the cost for the tree and the bench, with any surplus funds to be donated to the "Friends of the Farm” who help to look after Ottawa's Dominion Arboretum and Fletcher Wildlife Garden.
Due to overwhelming generosity, this campaign has far exceeded the original goal. However, excess funds will be divided between Friends of the Farm and The Faculty of Music at Carleton University.
Please join the community memorials to ‘Jen’, a wonderful, vibrant personality who will be missed by all.
Thank you.
