On July 22, 2019 Jennifer Gordon-Jurgenson and her family never thought in a million years that going to the doctor with stomach pain would result in her preparing for another fight for her life.  After a Colonoscopy and barely awake, the doctor broke the news “you have an aggressive form of Colon Cancer…”
 
This 36-year-old beautician, wife and mother of 2 boys has been through so much in this last year. With unwavering strength she endured the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in California history losing both her house and business in the Paradise Camp Fire on November 8, 2018. Jennifer and her young family moved to Red Bluff where they amazingly persevered finding a new home and opening a new salon.
 
Ready to fight like she never has before she began making phone calls until she was able to get the test that she needed.  Those tests would later confirm and determined that she has Aggressive Neuroendocrine Tumor of the Colon which is a very aggressive and fast-growing cancer if not treated promptly.  The aggressive nature of this disease has immediately placed Jennifer in the hospital for an extended stay while she undergoes intensive surgery to remove the part of her colon and surrounding area where the cancerous growth resides. She will undergo a multitude of other tests, and procedures before she starts her chemotherapy.

If you know Jennifer, you know she has a million-dollar smile and has the sweetest personality. This young women entrepreneur believed that giving back to her community in Paradise was one of the most important and valuable things she could do. She has devoted her career to her community in Paradise. Colours of Paradise worked with the Family Resource Center, Hart to Hand, and Salvation Army to provide for people in her community.  She hosted several events at her salon that included:  Styles with Santa, that event included free haircuts, lunch, crafts, face painting, bounce houses, games and the amazing Santa was always found somewhere handing out gifts to everyone who attended.  All proceeds from this event went to fill tags on the giving tree.  This event was organized 4 year consecutively. Jennifer and the girls from Colours of Paradise gave 500 haircuts to children, 900 families were given Christmas gifts and, 380 tags on the giving tree were filled.  Her Back to School events were equally as giving.  For 2 years she provided 250 haircuts to children along with back packs and school supplies. Sending Cinderella to the Ball was an amazing event.  Working with counselors and high achieving girls in need from group homes in the area and the Gough School for the hearing impaired.  The Salon provided shopping trips that would dress the girls from head to toe. Finishing this occasion on the day of the prom, the girls came to the salon and were pampered with hair, makeup and nails treatments.  A photo shoot followed to celebrate the special day. This young mother has given to her community.

This is an amazing young family that is part of a displaced community, and they need us (her community) more than ever right know. 

 We are asking for any help as this family endures every worst nightmare, and all the associated medical cost that will incur do to a lengthy hospital stay and lifesaving medications and treatments that will follow.
