On July 28th, 2020, Jennifer Norred was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension , which is a rare, progressive disease for which there is no cure. Pulmonary Hypertension is a lung disease that puts unnecessary stress on the pulmonary artery and right side of the heart, leaving the patient unable to pump sufficient oxygen through the body. Jennifer is now on oxygen therapy full time and will soon start receiving home health to assist with daily life tasks that she can no longer perform on her own. In one month’s time, she has had three emergency room visits due to heart arrhythmia brought on by this disease. She has had significant trouble sleeping as she must use a hospital bed to sleep with her head elevated to reduce stress on her heart. On September 23rd she will be starting treatment at University Hospital’s Comprehensive Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic in New Orleans . Jennifer will be incurring travel expenses for frequent visits and longer-term stays, as well as out of pocket expenses for costly medications not covered by insurance which are effective in treating this disease. Jennifer is fighting Pulmonary Hypertension while recovering from a spinal fusion surgery, her fourth surgery in five years, which complicates her daily life even further. We appreciate any help you can provide to ensure Jennifer receives the best treatment available and that she has an improved quality of life that is as bright as her beautiful smile. May God bless all of you.
