Jennifer “Jen/Jenny” Crystal Nelson-Olson, 40, of Bonney Lake, WA, left earth to fly with the angels Thursday, December 17, 2020, in Bonney Lake, WA, due to complications related to Guillain-Barre Syndrome, caused by COVID-19.
She was born on June 13,1980, in Anchorage, AK, the daughter of John and Carol Nelson. She grew up in Bonney Lake and attended Auburn Riverside High School, class of 1998. She went on to get her bachelor’s degree in social sciences at Washington State University. Jennifer was proud of her Alaskan native heritage, belonging to the (Alutiiq) of Old Harbor (Nuniaq), in Kodiak, AK.
After graduation, Jennifer spent 15 years with the Hermanson Company, as a senior project manager, creating a career for herself and promoting women leadership in the construction industry. She was an active member of many professional associations such as, the Mechanical Contractors Association of Western Washington (MCAWW), the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), Women Leaders in Construction (WLIC), and CREW Seattle & Sound (Commercial Real Estate Women). She enjoyed the camaraderie of her fellow members and attended numerous networking events and team building activities. Through her hard work and commitment, she now leaves a legacy for young women to achieve their dreams, regardless of the roadblocks of a predominantly male industry.
She enjoyed fishing in Alaska, hiking on local trails and talking trips with her family to Leavenworth, Lake Chelan and Mexico. She loved listening to music, a good love story, sharing a great bargain, and would never turn down an opportunity to get a manicure. But most of all, she will be remembered for her sharp, hilarious wit, her unwavering ability to take care of her family and friends, and how much she loved her two boys, Zachary Jr. and Gunnar. Jennifer loved making people smile and invested her energy to make sure all whom she loved were happy.
Jen is survived by her father John Nelson, of Portland, OR the father of her children Zachary Olson of Auburn, WA and their children Zachary Jr. and Gunnar. Her siblings: Jeremy Nelson of WA, Edward Nelson of Lake Tapps, WA, Jason Nelson of Auburn, WA and Jessica Nelson of Bonney Lake, WA. Jennifer adored her nephew Joshua and niece Lynden. She was preceded in death by her mother, Carol Nelson.
Jen was a beloved mother, sister, favorite auntie, colleague, and friend. With her sudden passing, we are now the keepers of her memory, keeping it alive with all the happiness and joy she brought to us. We love you, Jennifer. May your mom’s open arms in heaven heal your body and heart. Fly high with the angels, beautiful girl.
