Jennifer Lambert with medical expenses.

Hello, my name is Darlene and I am asking for donations on behalf of my mother, Jennifer (Walda) Lambert. Before I go into the details of her health journey, I would just like to say that my father, Don, is a hard working mechanic that has been working from their home for years to be close to my mom and help care for her. He has done a great job at this. They have lived paycheck to paycheck my whole life and I specifically remember multiple times growing up where we made it by the generosity of others and many blessings from God. My mom is not quick to ask for help but has always been quick to aid others even when she has very little. Know that we are all very thankful to you for taking the time to read about her, pray for her, and help financially- if you feel called to do so.

My mother has been ill for most of her life. At age 13, Jeni was diagnosed with epilepsy. Since the age of 23, she has continuously struggled with ulcerative colitis. After many years of battling other unknown health problems, she was diagnosed with heart failure in 2010 (40 yrs old), given a pacemaker, and sent down to IU Health. After weeks of testing they found that the root cause of her many ailments was sarcoidosis. Sarcoidosis is a rare autoimmune disease, with no cure, that affects your organs. At this point she was put on a low dose of chemo to lower her immunity for sarcoidosis in addition to other heart medications. She had done well with this regimen for 2 ½ years. Next, Jeni was diagnosed with tachycardia and a cardiomyopathy heart block causing her to need another surgery to put in a defibrillator.

Fast forward to May 2023, Jeni was informed she has chronic myeloid leukemia after receiving some routine blood tests. At this point her cancer doctor was only able to put her on 1 type of chemo drug because the other options would not be good for her heart problems. Unfortunately, after taking that chemo for a while she ended up in the hospital for almost a week. After becoming malnourished and unable to eat, it has been concluded she will not be able to take any chemo to treat her leukemia.

In an effort to avoid her leukemia progressing to stage 2 or 3, she is going to see a holistic doctor at the Cleveland Clinic. The medications are very expensive and not covered by insurance. She also has a very restricted diet and has to supplement with a special protein nutrition drink that is also quite expensive. They are already in major medical debt from her 5th heart surgery she had to have in January. At this point, we were already thinking about reaching out for help but instead waited and prayed.

This last Thursday, November 9, Jeni’s blood pressure plummeted causing her to fall in the house. As a result she broke her nose, cracked her facial maxillary bone, and some teeth. With her major weight loss from the leukemia and stomach problems, she is in a frail state and had to get clearance from her cardiologist to have surgery. She had surgery Saturday, November 11, 2023. After she is able to heal from this surgery, Jeni will need to have multiple root canals and work done to fix her teeth.

With all of this information, this truly is the long story short. If you feel called to help give financially, we are so grateful! As giving financially is such a blessing to my mom, she is most grateful for your prayers for her in her recovery and journey through her illnesses. Even in the lowest moments, she has felt Jesus with her in a special way. She is in good spirits and has total faith in God that she will be healed. I love my mother and am so thankful for the way others have shared their love for her too. God bless!
