Jennifer is running the Edinburgh Half Marathon
As part of my aim to complete a Half Marathon before my 40th birthday, I will be running the Edinburgh Half Marathon on the 26th of May in support of the Harris Trust.
As part of its mission, Harris Trust aims to raise awareness around mental health and neurodiversity. 'Neurodiversity' indicates that we all experience and interact with the world around us differently; there is no one "right" way of thinking and learning, and differences are not seen as disadvantages. Being neurodivergent means that an individual may think or learn differently to others. Around 1 in 7 people are neurodivergent, which encompasses a variety of often hidden disorders such as autism spectrum, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and social anxiety. It is possible that they do not have a diagnosis.
The aims of Harris Trust are:
•to raise awareness and provide training around mental health and neurodiversity
•to support the development of mentoring and peer support programmes for young people and promote respect, acceptance and a sense of belonging
•to support the provision of music and sport activities that would enhance the educational and social experience of young people with mental health and/or neurodiverse issues
