Jennifer Caro's Journey to Wellness
Donation protected
Update:
Jennifer had Gamma Knife surgery this past Tuesday (2/27/24) and there were no complications. We still do not know the effects of the surgery on the AVM, and she will regularly have to attend follow up appointments most likely for the rest of our lives.
We greatly appreciate the community outreach and donations. And we couldn't keep going without your support. Thank you to everyone who has shared, and donated.

Our Story:
On November 18th, at 2am, Jennifer Caro collapsed on her way to the bedroom. She attempted to stand up, and was not able to get up. She kicked the floor, and successfully alerted her Dog Hershel, who alerted myself, Felix Caro, and 911 was called, she was rushed to the ER, and we were informed she suffered a stroke due to an AVM which left her left side without feeling or movement.
An AVM is an extremely rare (Fewer than 200,000 thousand cases in the US) tangle of blood vessels that irregularly connects arteries and veins, that disrupts blood flow and circulation to the heart, brain, and organs. The AVM caused a stroke, and Jennifer is going to need gamma knife surgery, to repair the irregular blood vessels. Jennifer is currently in the hospital, and going through rehabilitation. She is currently excelling in her physical therapy, and thankfully is fully able to communicate. We are extremely grateful for the team of medical staff, and even being in the beginning stages of her journey, the medical staff team is very optimistic about her progress. We have spent her birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years in a hospital in Fort Saunders Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. We had to fly commercially first class, as no one wanted to do a 17 hour ambulance drive. It was completely out of our pocket.
As she is my wife, I am seeking assistance for her care, as my medical insurance will not cover all associated costs with her journey of full recovery. Associated procedures with an AVM are extremely costly, and we wont be able cover all of these costs on our own.
All donations will be used towards equipment for rehabilitation, equipment to make the house safe, adjustable bed, medical procedures such as the Gamma Knife surgery and our current and future medical bills. Our goal is to be able to provide everything she needs to make a full recovery, and your help plays a significant role in her recovery.
All and any support is greatly valued, and we are extremely grateful for your kindness, visits, prayers, and well-wishes during her hospital stay. We are hoping by this year or early 2025, she will make a full recovery. However, medical staff haven't given an exact time-frame on her recovery path.
Jennifer was a coach for PAL (Police Athletic League), which she coached a street hockey for kids in the community. She is a great, caring person who has always put others first. She provided resources, an outlet for kids outside of school, and she loves all of New England Sport Teams. She is truly a New England Sports Fan, she has always watched New England Sports games, traveling across the country to watch games. Before the AVM, she worked at Dartmouth Dermatology, and she has been there for 6 years. She managed the front desk, for all patients. She loves to do Landscape Photography and baking. She grew up in Fall River, and is an asset to her community, and a proud New Englander. She is the pet mom to Hershel, he's an 80lb Hound Boxer mix, and the pet mom to 4 cats.
Myself, Felix Caro appreciates every single donation. I work as a Service Technician for Pepsi, maintenance personal for AutoZone, and Johnson and Johnson 3rd shift foundry department. I have been currently out of work for 2 months due to these events.
Thank you for your hopes and prayers.
