I want to start out by thanking you all for your thoughts and prayers that you have sent our way this past week and half. I am not the type of person to ask for money and would rather be the one to help someone else out, but I love this woman so much that I am willing to swallow my pride and I am humbly asking for the financial help of my family, friends and acquaintances at this time so we can cover the costs of incoming medicals bills and travel that will take place to and from physical therapy in weeks to come.
Here is our story:
On October 12, 2016, my fiancée, Jennifer Holden, was in a terrible accident near New Town, ND. Jennifer left Watford City early that morning to go to work which is in Minot. It was still dark outside and visibility was difficult. The vehicle in front of her did not have working tail lights on its trailer so she was unable to see it while it was turning off the road.
Day 1 she was airlifted to Minot and had her first surgery on her knees and legs. This surgery was to fix the crushed bones from her knees down. On Day 2 they realized her feet were pretty well shattered as well and they went in to repair them with plates and screws.
The doctors have said they have done the best they could to repair the damage that was done but more surgery is likely going to be required. She has a long road ahead of her, especially for the next 3 months since she will not be able to put any weight on her feet and will be going through a lot of intense physical therapy.
The physical therapy that the doctor’s require for her is in Minot. In the next week or so, she will be released from the hospital and will be coming home to Watford City. The travel itself is going to be brutal during the coming winter months, let alone the expense we will incur to travel and continue with any other medical needs the doctors may require.
As you can see we named this the Jennifer and Rick’s Medical Fund. So here is my story, I had been scheduled to have rotator cuff surgery on November 3 of this year. My first thought was to postpone it so I could take care of Jennifer. But after visiting with Jennifer and my doctor we decided I cannot keep putting this surgery off. The doctors have informed me that for at least 6 weeks I will not be able to use my arm. At this point I am not sure how long I will have to take off work to heal.
With all the anticipated medical expenses, we have found that we need to seek outside help and we are asking you, our family, friends and acquaintances, to assist us in any way you can. May God bless you and yours. Love Rick and Jennifer
