Jennie Bryant's Koala Rescue and Rehabilitation work
Donation protected
Jennie Bryant OAM has been rescuing and rehabilitating wildlife on the Mornington Peninsula for more than 40 years.
Her focus has been the koalas we all associate with the bush here but which are diminishing in number.
Without a fully funded wildlife hospital on the Mornington Peninsula, the fate of injured creatures is too often left to volunteer carers like 71 -year-old Jennie.
For her it's a 24/7 labour of love and its getting busier by the day with the increased number of people coming to this part of the world, and the amount of land clearing and fencing that comes with that.
Jennie's bush block is like a Noah's ark with reptiles, marsupials and birds of all kinds getting the care they need. By her side is Jennie’s partner, 78- year- old Laurie French and some other volunteer carers who pitch in.
But Jennie receives no government or council funding and relies on donations. Her overheads are rising; she needs to instal more infrastructure for the increasing range of patients; and she needs our help.
