As many of you may know, our Mom Jenni has spent the entire year of 2023 battling Spindle Cell Sarcoma. Although she had been in pain and bed ridden since January, this is something we did not find out until March of 2023 when she received her official cancer diagnosis. From there she endured a 13-hour surgery that we had hoped would save her life. She had a lengthy recovery, spending 5 weeks away from her family between Stanford Medical and rehabilitation centers, followed by an additional 8 weeks of outpatient radiation. By August, our mom had “completed” her treatment and it was time for final scans, in which we were sure would give the “all clear”. Unfortunately, that just was not the case. Our family received the news that my Mom’s cancer had spread to her liver, lungs, lymph nodes, thyroid and the outer margins of her original surgical site within months. After delivering this news, Stanford Medical stated they would not be continuing care. This was devastating to process, feeling like we had limited time with the woman that makes our entire world go round. But she didn’t take no for an answer, I’m so proud of her for that. My mom has since sought out a second opinion and additional treatments to save her life with The City of Hope Cancer Center in Duarte, CA. Starting Monday November 20th she will begin one of the most aggressive forms of chemotherapy which will last through April 2024 if all goes as intended. This treatment plan will come at many costs for our family physically, emotionally, mentally, and financially. With all of that being said, we anticipate many expenses that will need covered throughout this journey. Unfortunately, with the cost of travel to treatments, the gas, food, hotel stays for infusion weeks, missing work hours and other necessities we are at a place where we feel the need to ask for financial help. Not only has my mom been out of work for a year due to this disease, but my Dad has also been right beside her along the way. He has never missed an appointment, a surgery, a treatment and has been her caregiver and support every single day. This is something we plan for him to continue to do along with the support of our family and friends from near and far in order to continue this fight for her life... Because in this family no one fights alone!
