Let’s gather around Jenni in support!

If you know Jenni Hodge, you know how much of a caring and loving individual she is. No matter how her day is going, Jenni will ALWAYS put a smile on your face and makes everyone around her feel at ease.

Over the last year, Jenni has been having scary health challenges that have impacted her normal day to day in a major way. As a mother of three active and spunky kids and a nurse, this change has had a major impact on her lifestyle.

Jenni has battled Crohn’s disease and Lupus for years but has managed with shifting her diet and lifestyle to fight for and live a full life. This year has looked different when she required frequent infusions of Phosphorus with no known reason.

Jenni went from weekly infusions to daily infusions, and recently was discharged from the hospital after 35 days. At this point she still didn’t have answers but had been stabilized enough to go home with a new medication.

Through all the unknowing, Jenni has stayed positive and leaned on God and her support system. It’s truly incredible how strong and resilient she has been through this difficult time.

On May 4th, she finally received some answers as she was diagnosed with Tumor-induced osteomalacia (TIO). This is a rare syndrome where they discovered 3 tumors that need to be removed. The tumors have been causing the abnormal levels of phosphorus and calcium in her body.

In the coming months, Jenni will be out of work, frequently traveling to OHSU and will have surgery/surgeries with an Oncologist Orthopedic Surgeon to remove the tumors.

Having answers and a path forward for treatment is something, we know, Jenni is very grateful for but it brings out a new set of of challenges and unknowns.

As we all know, medical challenges affect family, livelihood and financial security . It is our goal to decrease Jenni’s stress so that she can focus all of her energy on healing.
