Jenna’s Final Journey: A Peaceful Farewell

Donation protected

Hello, my name is Bianca, and I’m here to talk about my beloved Jenna, my sweet girl who has been so much more than just a cat to me over the years. I am heartbroken to share that the time has come to say goodbye to her. This has been hard to think of, and even harder to write. For over a decade, I’ve been known as “the cat person”—the one who rescues and cares for cats, and as a result, I’ve had many cats come in and out of my life. I’ve always opened my heart and my home to cats in need, helping to spay/neuter and find new homes for them, while also giving my own cats the best lives I could.

To give you some context, I’ve had five cats of my own over the years, all of whom I loved deeply: Donut (16), Jenna (17), Luna (12), Cookie (12), and Haru (4). Unfortunately, Donut passed in 2021, Cookie in 2024, and now it’s Jenna’s turn to say goodbye. Jenna was just a kitten when I received her in 2007, and she has been with me ever since. Through high school, the loss of my mom, college, after-college life, and even the global pandemic, she’s been my constant companion. Jenna was always the energetic one, the vocal one, the brave one when it came to dog visitors, and, above all, the biggest cuddle-bug who loved to perch on my shoulder.

Now, at 17 years old, Jenna is no longer the same cat. Over the past few weeks, she has rapidly declined. After multiple visits to the vet and several tests, we’ve learned that she has a large tumor in her lung that is affecting her neurologically and physically. She’s struggling to walk, can’t feel one of her legs, and her pupils no longer constrict. She’s not the active, playful cat I once knew, and it’s breaking my heart to see her suffer. We’ve started pain management, but it’s only a temporary solution.

As much as I want to keep her with me, I know that it’s not fair to let her suffer. Jenna is stressed out by vet visits, so I want to give her the peaceful, loving farewell she deserves, at home, where she feels safest. I’m hoping to arrange an at-home euthanasia service, but right now I can’t afford it. I’m still working on paying off the bills from her recent vet visits, and I’m humbly asking for help.

If you are able to donate even a small amount, or offer words of support, I would be so grateful. Every little bit helps, and knowing I’m not alone in this means the world to me.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for your kindness during this difficult time.

With love,
Bianca
