Hello dear friends and family,
Well, August brought new, unexpected challenges for our family. After a routine mammogram, I was called back for additional imaging and an ultrasound. Following a biopsy — which for 80% of women reveals a benign mass — I learned that I have invasive lobular carcinoma. It is a small mass in my left breast.
I’ve met with a surgeon at the cancer center, and my treatment plan is surgery (lumpectomy), followed by radiation and medication. The cancer was caught early and my prognosis is good — for that, I’m truly grateful!
Why I’m Asking for Help
I am raising funds to help cover:
- Medical expenses due to high-deductible insurance. (I’ve already received $4,000 in bills just from the biopsy.)
- A reduction in my income during medical leave while I’m recovering.
- Complementary therapies such as acupuncture and massage to support pain management and my overall well-being during treatment and recovery.

This journey is not only about fighting cancer but also about maintaining strength, balance, and hope throughout a very slow healing process.
Where Things Stand Now
- My next step is an MRI to determine the architecture of the cancer and whether it has spread.
- After the MRI, I’ll be scheduled for surgery.
- Following surgery, I’ll heal for 6 weeks, and then begin radiation based on the pathology report.
My doctor reminded me: “You are a healthy person who has cancer.” and that’s 100% the mindset I’m carrying forward.
A Marathon, Not a Sprint
This is a marathon, not a sprint. The road ahead will require patience, endurance, and support. I feel carried by your love, prayers, and encouragement — and I know we will get through this unexpected journey together.
As the saying goes: “A burden shared is a burden halved.”

Jenna
