Single Mom Loses it ALL in a Fire

Donation protected

Jenna Anderson
is a hard working, compassionate, loving, friend to all and single mother of 11 year old Wyatt who attends Hayesville, NC Middle School.

On October 29th, 2015, Jenna got Wyatt fed, dressed and ready for school for what seemed like any other normal day of 6th grade.

Jenna continued to get herself ready for another day at her two week old job in Hiawassee, GA and dropped Wyatt off along the way.

Jenna's boyfriend Michael Fasanati, of Blairsville, GA, was thankfully there that morning, yet had no clue what was about to happen.

After Jenna and Wyatt left the house Michael continued to finish up a few morning chores to help Jenna out.  As Michael was about to leave the house for work he heard crackling noises coming out of the bedroom.

He urgently went to see what the issue was, only to find a pile of clothes near the closet on fire.  He tried to put the fire out but knew quickly he needed to call for help.  He immediatly called 911 and tried to save the two dogs, terrior Wicket and new lab pup, Charlie.  Charlie went out the front door as the smoke and flames engulfed the house, Michael rushed back in to find Wicket.

The first responders came to Michael's rescue just in time, they pulled Michael from the burning home, but unfortunatly they lost their long time family pet of 9 years.

Minutes later more fire & rescue staff and volunteers showed up, trying to save any portion of the home. Shortly after, Jenna arrived watching her entire house and everything inside be destroyed by the flames.

This experience, as you can imagine felt like a horrible nightmare, having to watch every inch of their home and belongings vanish with only burnt embers and ash remaining.

As upset as Jenna was about loosing everything she couldn't help but think of how she was going to tell her son or how he would react, knowing he would never return to his home, his room, or have any of his personal belongings, toys, clothes, stuffed animals or have any more snuggles and licks from Wicket.

A volunteer rescue woman was on the scene for the entire day, she examined Michael and had to treat him for second degree burns on his neck, face, chest, forearms, hands and fingers.

Charlie, the almost 1 year old pup, somehow escaped the house but dissappeared for 6 hours before he returned home with severe burns all over his face, eyes and body.  He was rushed to the Blairsville vet's office, who treated the wounds and also found he has burnt corneas.  He stayed at the vet for 3 days and just returned to Jenna's care Saturday October 31st, 2015.

Jenna, Wyatt and Michael all have a warm and safe place to stay right now, thankfully for local family.  It will take months for insurance to kick in and begin helping to replace everything they lost. With Thanksgiving and Christmas around the corner, this tragedy is going to make the holidays the most difficult that they could have ever imagined.

Quite often we don't realize all that we have until it's gone.  Michael's belongings including his wallet, computer and even his car keys were burnt.  Jenna & Wyatt only have the clothing they left the house with that day.  Every picture album, baby book and meaningful family items are gone forever.  It was there for years but gone within minutes.

To help them get a fresh start we are asking for donations to aid in getting winter clothes, jackets, undergarments, toiletries, cosmetics, and shoes.  These funds can also go to help with vet and hospital bills, school supplies and toys for Wyatt, blankets, pillows, vitamins & medications, food and gas, and so many other immediate expenses.

We are appreciative of all funds donated and also asking for select items to be donated.
