This is the story of Jenna Lynn Ham, our Miracle Bird. She was saved through prayer after a presumed miscarriage, was faced with a D&C when Carrie requested one last ultrasound to be sure. And there was Jenna’s heart, beating loud and clear at 10 weeks old. Born May 31, 2006, Jenna is the kind of kid that reminds her parents how kindness is defined. Money donated to Jenna’s journey assures that over the next three years the people that are providing amazing care for her are paid for what insurance does not cover. It pays for the gas and car maintenance needed for the weekly trips to and from Sioux Falls her dad and sisters take and for outpatient trips to Sioux Falls Jenna will later require. It allows her mom to fight by her side until she is strong enough to come home. These donations also help cover Jenna’s schooling while she builds up her immune system to be able to go back to school with her friends. When Jenna’s treatment is finished, any funds not used will be donated to a non-profit organization to help a South Dakota kid facing a similar scary life-changing situation.
There are no words to fully express how amazing and humbling it has been to watch the enormous support system fall into place as Jenna’s story has unfolded. The compassion and generosity that we have felt will never be forgotten and has provided immeasurable inspiration to pay this forward.
