As many of you know, our strong and courageous Jenika was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia last October. This aggressive cancer has required her to undergo aggressive chemotherapy treatment that has been both physically and emotionally demanding in preparation for a bone marrow transplant, which is tentatively scheduled for early March, thanks to the gracious donation from a stranger. After the transplant, Jenika will face a new path of adjustment, recovery and rehabilitation so that she can ultimately resume her life as both a passionate athlete on the Women's Soccer Team at the University of California, Irvine, as well as a dedicated Anteater pursuing a degree in Criminology, Law & Society. Throughout this difficult journey, Jenika and her family have been humbled by the outpouring of love and support from all of you and are constantly reminded of, and grateful for, the unanticipated little miracles along the way. Indeed, there is hope even in despair, inspiring Jenika to support others facing blood cancers as well.
Many have so kindly asked what they can do to help ease the struggle of Jenika and her family as she continues treatment and enters the road to recovery after the transplant. Please consider donating to help us reach our initial goal of $39,000 to help cover Jenika’s medical and rehabilitative costs as she makes her way back to the soccer field and studies at UCI. Any funds received over our goal will be used to advance blood cancer research as well as provide support to other young people in need of treatment. Most of us have been on the receiving end of Jenika’s huge and generous heart and we thank you in advance for your support. If you would be so kind as to return that same love with a donation, it would be so much appreciated.
