Jeni and Constance need our help!

Jennifer “Jeni” Tompkins is a dear friend and a dear person.

And she needs a running car!

Her transportation needs are vital: Caring for her Mother, Constance, taking her to appointments, surgeries, and therapy; traveling to work, which is substitute teaching all over Los Angeles county (while seeking a permanent teaching position); getting to church, where she is Choir/Worship Team member, Dance Ministry Leader, Reader, Prayer Group and Vestry; and traveling to the archery range where she is a Coach, our Education Director, and a competitive Archer.

We met Jeni at the archery range, where we all shoot and teach together.

Over the years we have watched her give and give, at her church, at our archery club, to others in need, and to her mother, Constance.

Jeni is a professional dance teacher, an archery coach, and a newly credentialed school teacher.

Her Mother, Constance Lestrade, is retired. She worked many years in accounting, and volunteered with their church while always pursuing her passions of art, crafts, and especially writing.

Since about 2016, Constance, aka Mama Connie, aka Mama Tompkins, has suffered decreasing mobility due to extreme knee issues. This decreased mobility has contributed to additional health issues.

Jeni has her own health issues. Despite chronic health conditions and multiple allergies, which preclude some treatments, she has persisted.

When Jeni’s employer downsized, they also revoked Jeni and Mama Connie’s housing. All they asked for was help to move.

While working and putting herself through school for her teaching credential, Jeni has been caretaker, transportation, cook, and physical and moral support for Constance.

When Jeni was feeling unwell, she persisted.

When Jeni struggled to finish school, all she asked for was patience and prayers.

When Jeni’s car started to deteriorate, all she asked for was the occasional ride from the train station to the archery range.

But her car has finally gone its last mile.

Our goal is to raise $6,000, or a reliable car!
