Hi everyone. I'd like to share with you all Janelle's story and why I'm starting this fundraiser for her and her family. Janelle is a beautiful young woman, mother, daughter, sister, spouse and needs our help. She was recently diagnosed with 3rd stage Hodgkin's Lymphoma. During her recent pregnancy she was extremely ill when she noticed swollen, itchy glands around her neck, she saw her Dr who wasn't concerned at the time. She recently returned to her Dr at her father Marc's persistence during his last visit to see her and his granddaughters, as the problem hadn't resolved itself. She was then diagnosed with cancer, which was found in her neck, chest, lungs and spleen.
Janelle is the primary care provider for her two young daughters, Océanie age 3 and Brielle who is 5 months old in a few weeks. Janelle's partner Dalen is working full time in Kitimat where the family had moved a year ago for his job, and only planned to live there for a few years, and he will have to remain at his job while Janelle travels back to Vernon to stay with her parents so she can have more support for herself and her daughters during her upcoming 6 months of chemotherapy. Janelle and her partner have been just living paycheck to paycheck, and now it will be even less with a lot of unexpected expenses to cover.
Janelle had originally planned to go back to work full time but is unable to now, which is putting financial strain on their growing family. There will be travel costs, and help needed for childcare during her treatments, she needs our help to ease the stress of finances while her family supports her and her children. She is already so tired from normal family life as well as her illness. Her parents will do their best with their work schedules to accomodate childcare while she is back home here in Vernon, but there may be gaps to fill and that's where we all come in.
Janelle has a PET scan scheduled October 6 in Kelowna to find out if the cancer has spread anywhere else, and then she will return to Kitimat to move with her daughters back to Vernon with her mom Chris' help, and from there she begin her chemotherapy treatment plan.
Please consider even a small donation, for such a lovely person. I have set the goal of $15,000.00, and I hope that is enough, and I just wish we could do more.
I will update as everything proceeds with Janelle's treatments. And in addition to donating, send your best healing, loving and caring thoughts to this family.
Thank you.
