Our friend, Jena, has recently been diagnosed with Stage 2 Invasive Ductal Metaplastic Carcinoma at age 32. She is married to the love of her life, Gary, and together they share two beautiful daughters, Madeleine and Rosalie. Jena is a hardworking daughter, mother, wife, and friend who always puts her family first. If you know her, you know she is always cracking hilarious jokes and that being in her presence is sure to make your stomach hurt from laughing so hard. Jena is an amazing person to many people who is always there for anyone in need.
It seems as though all of the stars had finally aligned for Jena over the past few years, until this October when she discovered a jelly bean sized lump in her breast. After a mammogram, ultrasound, and biopsy, it was determined that this lump had grown into a 13mm tumor, and that an aggressive form of cancer had been growing at a rapid pace. This
rare diagnosis affects less than 1% of women with breast cancer.
Jena’s treatment includes surgery, six months to one year of chemo, and radiation five days a week for six weeks. Her out-of-pocket cost for this plan is $11,000 with insurance. In addition, she and Gary will have travel and hotel expenses along the way.
While Jena maintains a positive outlook and is determined to beat this, we know that there is long, expensive road ahead of her. The least we can do is come together to alleviate the financial burden on Jena and her family. With this fundraiser, we hope that we can all bring that beautiful, vibrant smile back to Jena’s face.
