Help Support Jen “Sherlock” Holmes’ Children in the Wake of Her Passing
My name is Addie, and for over a decade I had the honor of working side by side with Jen Holmes—affectionately known to many of us as “Sherlock”—at Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore and Camp Sacajawea. From events like Spooktacular, Grinchmas, and the Girl Scout Derby to a special week last summer hosting girls from across the country, Sherlock brought her signature energy and heart to everything she touched.
I’ve had the privilege of watching her two children grow into remarkable young adults who reflect her kindness, perseverance, and strength of spirit.
Jen made a lasting impact through every path she walked—at ShopRite, Howell Transportation, and especially within the Girl Scout community. Whether teaching girls how to hold a bow, start a campfire (fast!), navigate with a compass, or tie knots, Sherlock infused every moment with imagination, joy, and fierce dedication. Her influence is etched into the memories of countless girls and families who were lucky enough to cross her path.
On April 19, Jen Holmes passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind her two young adult children, Laci and her brother. As they grieve this unimaginable loss, they are also facing the heavy financial burden of funeral expenses and the overwhelming challenge of navigating life without their mom’s support.
We are raising funds to help cover:
Funeral and burial expenses
Immediate living costs for Laci and her brother
Transitional support as they begin building a life without their mother’s presence and guidance
Sherlock was a devoted mother, and her children meant everything to her. Now, they need our support more than ever. Every donation, no matter the size, offers these young adults a bit of peace and stability during an incredibly difficult time. If you’re unable to contribute financially, simply sharing this campaign is deeply appreciated.
“May our campfires together burn brighter under the stars, knowing one special star now shines brighter than the others in the sky over camp—just for us.”
