With Jenn’s unexpected passing, this GoFundMe account has been created by friends of the Rickey family to assist her siblings in covering medical and funeral expenses. Thank you in advance for your support of Mo, Mike and Joe during this difficult time.
Below is a beautiful tribute to Jennifer written by her brother Joe who so eloquently expressed the impact of Jenn’s life and her passing.
Hope. It’s ironic that during this Lenten season, the reoccurring theme is hope. For the last month my siblings and I have clung to hope. Hoping we were making the right decisions. Hoping we could stay on the same page. Hoping our prayers would be answered and all would be well.
But on Good Friday, at 5:10 p.m., our sister Jenn’s body of miracles finally gave up. For those that knew her, her list of medical challenges was long and complex, so each day with her was a gift. During the last month we worked with an amazing medical team at Baptist South to juggle a series of new medical challenges with so many of her existing physical challenges. We wanted so much to save our little sister and each day brought a new headwind until her little heart and lungs couldn’t do it anymore.
To say we are going to be lost without her will be an understatement. Mo, Mike and I have spent the last several days fully digesting the insane void her passing will leave for us. Her ability to make every family occasion beautiful. Her commitment to attend EVERY. SINGLE. family events. Her passion for children and beautiful knack to connect with and care for them. She was always giving, even when she had so little.
It's a little surreal as we begin to realize what life will be like with out Jenn. We are crushed and just keep hoping this is a bad dream and she is going to call and ask what’s for Sunday dinner? When’s Ava’s next game? Mo, have you gone to the grocery store to get the things on my list?
Now our hope has shifted. We hope she isn’t scared anymore about getting sick. We hope she is no longer in pain and struggling to breath. We hope she got an express ticket to heaven and Walt and Peg are running toward her to give her the biggest hug for which Jenn has been waiting for years to get.
We promised Mom before she passed, we would look out for her little girl and do everything we could to take care of her. I think we honored our promise. Now, Mom, we ask that you welcome her with open arms. Your baby girl is home.
