Hello beautiful friends and family! I am not really sure how to ask this, so here we go. I am at a piont where I need to be using my wheelchair for most activities outside of our home. Part of the symptoms I have with this form of Muscular dystrophy is Myotonia. What this is is stiffening or tighting of the muscles. The myotonia is set off buy cold, to much activity, and fatigue. So I need to conserve energy, and keep what beautiful muscle I have left. So I am able to still enjoy the little things in life. This will bring me much needed independence. The problem is the wheelchair carrier I have now takes two people to get on there, and off. I have gotten to the piont where I tend to not get out if I need the wheel chair because its to much work. After last winter I really am changing my patterns, and learning what I need. I went into a very dark depression because I stopped doing most things because it was just to difficult. I am working hard on how to change this winter for the better. I have looked at what needs to change, and what I can do to change it. This a huge part of my struggle. Well this and acceptance. Lol I have to do the last one, but you can help with the first one. This year I started asking for help from MDA, and medicare. Unfortunately they don't pay for these items, and they do not have a loaner I can use. As this disease progesses we are seeing we cannot do it alone. We need a village. This is one of the toughest and vulnerable feelings I have had for a while. Learning to ask for help. This disease has taught me alot over the years. The biggest lessen is that we all need help some more than others. I am coming to terms that I am that some. We appreciate your love and generosity.
