Jen Hookey's medical expenses

My beautiful friend of 25 years, Jennifer, was diagnosed five years ago with a debilitating kidney disease. In a very short time, she went from stage two (mild) to stage five (END stage) kidney failure. She is teetering dangerously at the edge of dialysis at only 39 years old. Thirty-nine years young and about to go on dialysis! Every day is a struggle for this woman to just get out of bed, go to work and function! Jen is a career nurse, a daughter, an amazing person and a d@mn warrior and she is going to DIE at a very young age if she doesn’t get a transplant. So, without hesitation, I offered her a kidney. She thought I was joking until I made the appointment with her transplant team in January and began a barrage of invasive medical and psychological tests over the last several months. I completed the final test a few weeks ago and have since been fully cleared. On July 19th, we had a joint meeting with the surgeon and members of her team to discuss the financial impact and scheduling. We now have a commitment for the transplant surgery procedure in October. I am not sharing this for any sort of praise so please no comments to that effect. This is not about me. This is about Jen and how she is drowning in medical bills and is about to incur a lot more. I am asking - begging - for you to help me, help her with the medical expenses. Jen has struggled to stay afloat financially for five years trying to stay alive. Read. That. Again!!!! Five years she has struggled to keep up with the medical bills so that she can stay alive!!! And now we are going into major surgery, which will add a significant figure to her balance. To make it even more difficult, she has only been with her current employer for seven months so she does not qualify for short-term or long-term disability or FMLA. This means she will be out of work for surgery and recovery with zero pay and zero protection for her job. Let’s just say this again… Jen is already fighting to stay alive and, on top of that struggle, she is drowning in medical debt! Please, please, please help me, HELP JEN!!!
