Cancer Messed with the Wrong Bish - Jen Gurecki Support Fund

These are not the messages you want to be sending. For many layered reasons, creating a GoFundMe to help your dear friend through breast cancer is a shit-sandwich – but here we are. If you’re reading this, you’re most likely one of the many human-beings impacted by the tenacity, wit and general bad-assery of Jen Gurecki. Late this summer, Jen was diagnosed with breast cancer and was immediately scheduled for a round of chemotherapy through the end of 2025.

While she’s still at the beginning of this challenge, the bills are already coming in – a side of shit-chips if you will. She now needs our (financial) help more than ever. Our intention behind this GoFundMe is to build as much support from our network as possible, to lend over to Jen this season. Jen has given us so much over the years; any support you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

For over a decade, Jen has been carving the path for women in snow sports and beyond. Coalition Snow celebrated its 10-year anniversary in 2025, challenging the status quo in ski sports – Coalition has FOUR Blister Review awards this 2025/26 season already. Her non-profit Zawadisha, a micro-lending program in Kenya, has been going strong for nearly 15 years, and she’s helped thousands of rural women radically improve their lives. She also leads cross-country bike adventures for groups each summer, proving she knows how to be the most disgusting version of herself. For those closest to Jen, we know the energy and purpose she’s brought to all of her work. In action, principle, and connection, Jen Gurecki has championed women. And yet, we live in this shit-scape lacking universal healthcare & systems that work for people. Which is why we’re turning to our community for help. Thank you and your support of Jen, she’s so got this!

GoFundMe donations will go towards Jen’s medical and care living costs – even helping Jen and Kel with dinner for a night would make a massive impact as Jen focuses her energy on beating cancer.

Where the money is needed/going:

Out of pocket medical costs in 2025: As a small business owner, Jen doesn’t have insurance through her job. She has relied on the Marketplace (aka Obamacare) and luckily is insured. But her deductible is $6,500 and maximum out of pocket is $8,000. She’s almost reached that amount and hasn’t even started chemo yet.

Out of pocket medical costs in 2026: Her chemo should conclude in 2025 (fingers’ crossed), and she will undergo surgery in 2026. That means she’ll hit that $8,000 maximum again. But because of the Big Bullshit Bill, we don't know what her insurance will look like, from the monthly cost to what’s covered to her deductible to her maximum out of pocket costs.

General life expenses: Her chemo regimen is going to significantly impact Jen’s ability to earn a living. Your contribution will help her run her businesses without the incredible stress small business owners place on themselves during the busiest time of the year. Anyone who owns a small business knows how important Q4 is for your sales. Jen will be undergoing chemo through the end of the year, which will significantly impact her ability to work during the busiest time of the year. While she has a team in Kenya who runs the operations for Zawadisha, Jen manages all of the fundraising, trips, and sales for Zawadisha. She also is the ONLY person at Coalition responsible for customer service, marketing, sales, website updates, new products, etc.
