Update:
With the rising costs of housing in our county, we can't even compete with trying to purchase a home. We were renters, and didn't think to get insurance on the home we lived in. Our previous landlords decided to scam us out of our hefty deposit and entire month of rent for November (that we didn't even reside in the home because of the fire) We lost every single thing we owned, our vehicles. While Jen stayed the day of the CampFire to help evacuate both humans and animals, Robin was able to escape with as many of the family pets that were willing to come. She was able to get them to where our kids safely waited for the rest of their family to return. It has been a difficult journey, living in a travel trailer, a tough winter with lots of snow, mud, rain, our bed mattresses eventually succumb to black mold, our spirits are still dragging low, but we continue to push: go to ours jobs both still serving the animals/humans in the wake of the fire. We would be so grateful if you could share this GoFund to your page, so it may reach more viewers. We appreciate everything everyone has done for us. This is truly the most difficult thing any one of us has ever been through.
An update from Jen this morning:
“We are so grief stricken, but feel very fortunate we were able to escape with our family, three dogs, one of our cats, Lucille our pet chick and our horses....we are camping in a field at a ranch outside of Chico. We lost our cars, chickens and other cats, not to mention everything in our home and all our recent wedding gifts.
We’ve been lucky that our family and friends are being very helpful and supportive.
Anything we can get will be helpful. Sadly we didn’t have home insurance yet as we decided to hold off on it since only moving in June, and we were still paying for our wedding in September.
Thank you all for the love, thoughts, support, help.
We are so appreciative.”
Newlyweds Jen and Robin Robbins just lost their home and both of their cars in Paradise in the Camp Fire, and along with it their beloved cats and chickens. They were able to escape with their two young daughters Peyton and Olivia, their dogs, horses, and the clothes on their backs. All of the beautiful wedding gifts they had just received as they start their new lives together are gone, as well as a lifetime of memories for both of them and the girls. As you can imagine, they are devastated beyond words. They don't know what to do or where to turn, and they need our help!
It's going to be a long road to recovery, and whatever you are able to give will be greatly appreciated beyond words as they start to rebuild their lives. They tragically did not have renter's insurance, so we all really need to pitch in and show our support. Thank you for supporting this beautiful family!
*a note about who I am: I went to high school with Jen in Healdsburg and have remained friends with her ever since. She's become a family friend and we love her and her awesome wife Robin dearly!
