On April 2, 2024 my sweet niece Jemma passed away suddenly at the age of 8 years old.
Jemma’s story really began 5 years ago when she was diagnosed with an extremely rare condition called FIRES syndrome.
This led to a lengthy stay at the Alberta Children’s Hospital, and we were close
to losing her during that time.
Since then Jemma has had many health struggles. She was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in 2020 and had to have her entire large bowel removed.
Because of the FIRES syndrome she continued to have seizures daily, so she had to have brain surgery to disconnect the halves of her brain to help control the seizures.
Throughout all of the hospital visits, admissions, surgeries, tests, hundreds of pokes she continued to sparkle ❤️
We believe that God needed another Angel and that is why he took her so suddenly.
Trisha and Derek are absolutely shattered, Jemma was their heart and soul, their entire world. Life will never be the same for them.
Jemma ‘sparkle’ touched so many lives, and her parents would like to have a large celebration of life where all those she touched can attend.
I started this gofundme to help with the cost of the celebration, and to help with other expenses as Trisha and Derek are not able to work during this time of grieving.
Thank you everyone for your support.
Auntie loves you Jemma ❤️
