Hi hi hi! My name is Jeimie Leo Jones, I am a 23 year old black & indigenous trans non-binary individual. I can finally say that I am raising funds for my top surgery! Wooooo!

I’ve been out and living as ✨me✨ since 2015 and I have never been more comfortable and secure with who I am than I am in this moment. What a PRIVILEGE to be able to be so loving towards myself, my identity and have a whole community of people who are so supportive.

However, I’ve always known that my body doesn’t feel like my body. I’ve struggled with dysphoria, with working out, with eating, with being able to send love to my body consistently because of how much I struggle with body image. Of course that comes with my personal experience with being trans. I’ve been thinking HEAVILY about top surgery since 2015 after coming out and haven’t strayed from it since then. While I really try to be so outward with love to my body because it helps contradict my brain and my negative thoughts towards my feminine figure, i.e. taking cute photos and posting them as a form of self exposure therapy, hehe. But in reality, while I remind myself to love my body while in its current state and send kindness to it, that doesn’t change the fact that my chest shouldn’t be there. Years of photoshopping my chest, of binding, of pushing my chest down to make my chest look flatter — 8 whole years of being out, 8 whole years of knowing who I am and what I want for me and my body. And this is it. I finally have the health insurance and am in the position to finally get the gender affirming care that I need and that I deserve! TOP SURGERY WOOOOOOO.

We all know it is EXTREMELY expensive and impossible to do on my own. Even if I do have insurance, my insurance is not going to cover all of it—the procedure, hidden costs, anaesthetic costs, medical tool costs, breathing in a hospital costs. When I spoke with a representative and my insurance agent about all of these different fees, I…….yeah. I was overwhelmed. The surgery is going to be expensive, and with me being constantly in and out of the doctor for illness that I’ve been paying out of pocket for this year, saving has been ROUGH friends. I’m also on a leave of absence from work and my pay has been reduced immensely, so I’ve been trying my absolute best to do save while also paying for rent, bills, and groceries, but having medical expenses takes it out of me financially. And that’s why I, realistically, need anything I can get to cover all of the costs and fees that come with this surgery.
