Jeff's Tour Divide Race Adventure
Donation protected
Whether it be my accomplishments as an athlete, military service member or success in my career, the passion for everything I do is based on a desire to be a positive example for others and support good causes when I can.
It has been a long standing dream of mine to participate in the Tour Divide, a self supported bike race that runs 2745 miles between Banff, Canada and Antelope Wells, New Mexico. Racers have the option of beginning at either end of the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route which comprises mostly dirt roads with some pavement and mountainous singletrack thrown in for good measure. I will ride south to north beginning on the start date of June 10.
What makes this adventure even more meaningful is that I will be raising support and awareness for two wonderful foundations that represent a true sense of community and illustrate how important it is for us to take every opportunity we can to help and empower those that are less fortunate.
The two causes I will be riding for are The Wounded Warrior Project and The Kirk "Rocky" Derichsweiler Foundation.

The Wounded Warrior Project is a non-profit organization that honors and empowers wounded veterans. It raises awareness and enlists support for unique, direct programs and services that aid injured service members, allowing them to live active and healthy lives. This program has given wonderful support to those who have sacrificed so much in the service of our country.

Kirk (Rocky) Derichsweiler passed away on December 12, 2011. An organ donation from his sister Dana saved his life, yet cancer unfortunately took it in end.
In spite of his health challenges he lived joyfully and shared his passion for biking and hiking with anyone who would join him. The Kirk "Rocky" Derichsweiler Foundation honors his legacy by supporting causes he was so passionate about, including Organ Donation and programs that promote cycling and recreation among those less fortunate. particularly children.
50 percent of all funds raised from my goal of $2400 will be split with the two causes and half supporting the basic costs of my trip. 100 percent of all additional funds raised beyond $2400 will be donated outright to these great causes.
Please follow and share my Facebook page which will chronicle my race preparation, the causes I am supporting and inspirational stories, photos and videos captured along the Great Divide Trail.
Thanks for coming along for the ride!
