
Your Body - An Owner's Manual
The information contained in my books applies to everyone.
Hi. My name is Jeff Cordeiro and I am a personal trainer. I am 58 years old, the ideal BMI, waist size and average 9% body fat during the year – but I haven’t always been this way.
Twenty years ago, I was in the same boat as most Americans. Specifically, I was overweight, so much so that I ended up having three knee surgeries, I had high cholesterol, the first signs of rheumatoid arthritis, and the ever-present pains from the scoliosis I was born with and the whiplash I acquired from a car accident I was in when I was in my late twenties. The discoveries that ultimately led me to optimal wellness and the methods I use to restore my clients to peak health and fitness are all contained in my two books.
Yes, books plural. When I began organizing all of the information that I utilized to heal myself and now to train my clients daily, I discovered there was much more than a single book’s worth. Once published, anyone who is serious about minimizing illness and injury simply needs to follow the step by step processes outlined in my books to customize a program tailored specifically to address their personal health issues. Hopefully, I’ve made it very clear that this is not a one size fits all diet or exercise program.
My books go way beyond basic nutrition and exercise. That type of information can be found almost anywhere. One size fits all programs, statistically, only work for about 5% of the population in the best cases. My books are guides that show each reader how to determine exactly what they need to eat, how and why for optimal health, performance, illness prevention and/or healing. It shows each reader how to analyze his or her body to identify physical imbalances that will, if not corrected, limit performance at the very least and could lead to chronic and/or debilitating injuries. These books include revolutionary tactics and techniques that, as of now, have only been available to my clients. Now you can be included in that group.
Never go on another diet again. The first book gives the reader basic rules on how to eat to not only normalize weight but, more importantly, to identify which foods they personally should and shouldn’t eat. There is much more to proper nutrition than merely eating “healthy”. Healthy foods for one person may be the cause of disease for another. Once completing my unique reset process, the reader will know what foods to eat for the rest of his or her life. Book One will also show which of those foods to eat and why, when trying to lose weight, build muscle, train for a specific event, rest and recover, or reduce the need for medications.
Analyzing strengths and weaknesses comes next. Following that, the reader will learn how to correct postural imbalances through a brand new exercise protocol that I created to eliminate the causes of pain and stiffness that may have been suffered for years. This book is designed to return everyone’s body, from beginner to athlete, to a proper foundation, enabling them to proceed to their next health and fitness goal, without setbacks or injuries. Proper breathing, form, intensity and much more are needed in the right amounts at the right times to achieve success in the least amount of time imaginable.
The second book guides the reader through the calculations, exercises, approaches, frequencies, and programs needed to create and achieve long-term goals.
Immediate results are what most clients want. Both books are designed to give the reader regular measurable results throughout, keeping them motivated and inspired to continue toward being the healthiest they can possibly be.
I’ve trained men, women, young, old, athletes and cancer survivors. For years clients have been asking me to write a book because so much of the information used to help them successfully achieve lasting health and fitness was unique and contrary to what they’d been told all their lives by the “experts”. Unfortunately, it was following that expert advice that led them to seek out personal training. The phenomenal results my clients achieved finally convinced me that I needed to put my methods in writing once and for all.
So, now I’d like to now introduce you to two current members of my team who used my methods to improve their health and fitness.
The first person is Carol Clark.
“Until now, I would have never considered myself fit, yet every single day my health improves. My journey started 15 months ago, when I first joined Gold’s Gym. I have developed muscles and inner strengths that I never thought possible.
When I began, I was 200 pounds overweight and well on my way to an early grave. That’s right; say it with me, 200 pounds of extra FAT. Consequently, as with many people in my situation, I had physical problems; a torn rotator cuff, ruptured discs in my back, and unstable knees. Worst of all, I had doubts that I could ever lead a healthy fulfilling life.
Boy was I wrong. In my wildest imagination, I didn’t think I could get so strong. My body is now free of 150 pounds of that fat and I know I am capable of living a full and physical life.
I have developed muscles I denied existed. Yet during a recent 12-week Challenge, they are gradually revealing themselves to me on a weekly basis. I have actual definition! My collar bone was the first to immerge to my utter delight. This was soon followed by biceps and shoulders. Little by little, I get new glimpses of good things to come and the best news of all is that I finally have hope. My collar bone now acts as my anchor, to keep me grounded in times of doubt.
My inspiration came in the form of my exceptional Gold’s Gym trainer and mentor, Jeff Cordeiro. He dismissed my doubts and encouraged me to have faith that I could be healthy through good old fashion hard work, diet and exercise. He taught me that it was more than just burning calories or drastic dieting. Jeff taught me to eat clean, portion control, identify and work through those physical imbalances, and get incredibly strong. In fact, he has helped me be stronger than I have ever been in my 54 years, despite my physical challenges. I’ve also learned that age is not a crutch and we all have the capacity to get physically younger. He set the bar high and, somehow, I found it in me to excel. He knew better than me what I could achieve and his sage council has proven itself time and time again. And you know what? I don’t miss my old life the least little bit and I did it all in the healthiest manner possible.
I now have the confidence that I can continue to get stronger and younger. Not only have I learned the basics, but so much more as he has taught me the benefits of building muscle vs. losing fat. Due to my significant weight loss I have a lot of loose skin. This alone could derail my efforts as the realities of my ravaged body are revealed in the mirror every morning. They will forever be memorialized in my before and after photos. But Jeff’s master plan to build muscle has alleviated much of the sagging skin and given me hope that continued work to build muscle will help to fill that empty skin with muscle. So not only have I replaced fat with muscle, I have worked to replace shame with pride.
I know I have inspired others to walk this path. This fact fills me with courage and self-respect. I find myself being braver and wanting to lift others up to join in my experience of life and health. There are no quick fixes and no short-cuts to building a healthy body. It takes work and dedication. It is a constant series of small changes that add up to big results. The good news is that the results are lasting.
Sure, I have sacrificed to obtain my goals. I have passed up pizza, cocktails, and late night plunges into a pint of ice cream. I pushed my body further than I thought possible. I cursed, gasped for air, and imagined that I was going to collapse in a pile of sweat, but I never quit. When I look back at those sacrifices, I have no regrets at all. None! The sacrifices have been rewarded by an amazing transformation. It is simply inconceivable to imagine falling off the rails yet again. I’m in this for good. The amazing thing is that throughout my hard work I never felt deprived.
I anticipate the emergence of new unknown muscles and definition in my future which is way better than figuring out what sort of fillings are in a box of chocolates. I will always be a work in progress as anyone that seeks health understands, but now I know that I am a warrior! I am capable of anything.

Before Carol and I met, she had lost and regained 100 pounds two previous times in her life. Currently, Carol has lost over 160 pounds and is well on her way to her goal of losing a total of 210 pounds to get to her ideal weight. Due to a genetic defect, her growth was stunted, she had thyroid issues and too little of her 89 pounds was muscle, which caused postural problems. Over the years, I’ve learned that looks are deceiving and virtually everyone has health issues that they are dealing with. I’ve also learned that nearly all of them can be cured by the body through proper nutrition and exercise. Now for a client who is right in the middle of the spectrum. Darren Gillhouse works hard for a living, so he gets plenty of activity.
