Jeff's medical emergency fund
Donation protected
5/19/23 Hi, I'm Nicole, I'm doing this gofundme for my brother who is in the lCU in critical condition currently. He was struck by a vehical while (for some reason) walking on foot on interstate 94 on Thursday, May 18th shortly before 11pm.
The extensive, life-threatening injuries he has: broken collarbone, broken shoulder, internal bleeding, stitches on his face, wired jaw shut, on a ventilator , feeding tube, trachea, broken arms, compound broken legs both above and below the knee, damaged spleen, bladder, and liver, 2 main arteries in his legs were torn, broken pelvis on both sides, and multiple surgeries will be needed.
He has a very long road ahead of him and we are trying to raise money for unexpected emergency medical expenses or anything related to what jeff needs.
I will provide updates between surgeries as they happen. Thank you for your support and if all you can give is a prayer then please do that.
5/21/23 Update on jeff from this morning before going into another 12 hour long surgery for his hips and femur that is going on as you're reading this:
I took pictures of him today. I was able to fully face him and look at many of his extensive list of injuries.
Today they told me about his displaced and multiple facial fractures. His face is swollen but once that goes down, they'll be paying attention to that. They said everything but his brain was broken and that THAT was his saving grace. They said otherwise he wouldn't have lived. What a miracle that everything is affected but his brain. Just wow.
They were happy with his bladder numbers.
His nose looked cleaned up but the top of his nose is... gone up to the start of his nostrils.
I think they were letting his skin breathe by not having him clothed. I saw heavy road rash on his left arm, his side going to his back, and on his knee too. Made me fucking sad. But I needed to know and needed to be there with him.
He was able to wiggle his toes again when asked. He tried opening his eyes a few times and he recognized my voice, turning his head when I said, "brother." It was obvious he wanted to talk but couldn't bc his jaw is wired shut. The machine beeped and his awesome nurse came in asking jeff to breathe slowly. The nurse told him, "good job, Jeff, good job." I thanked him for taking such good care of Jeff.
I didn't want to stress him out or raise his blood pressure so I stayed quiet and just looked for any spot on his body that I could physically touch or rub to let him know that someone is there with him. I landed on his right hand, his thumb, pointer and middle finger for a mini handhold. He moved his fingers. I really think he was aware I was there.
He is breathing on his own now and in a few days they hope to remove the trachea tube. 6 weeks his jaw will be wired for.
This is what I remember from today's visit but I always seem to forget a few things so when I remember I'll edit this update.
We are so grateful for every donation given, every prayer and word of support. This still feels like a bad dream. We are still getting new information each day and will do our best to keep you as current as possible. Please continue to pray, give if you can, and please share the gofundme link with those you know. Thank you again.
