About three days ago Jeff complained about pressure in his head that dramatically increased to be unbearable yesterday. At work he was slurring his speech and walking as if he was drunk. They got to the clinic, ran tests and all came back fine. Doctors said maybe slight dehydration, but didn't feel as though that should be the cause of what he's feeling. Yesterday got a lot worse so Jeff went to Ida Grove and they ended up doing a CT scan, and that's when they found a mass in his brain. The mass is located in the third ventricle (middle of the brain.) When he got to Mercy Hospital the surgeon checked his eyes and saw a build up of fluid behind them, that was sitting on his brain. They ended up doing an MRI and after that they immediately started getting Jeff prepped for surgery. After three long hours the surgeon came out letting family know that the surgery was a success, but the build up of fluid present was astromomical. Jeff currently has two drain tubes in his head, that's allowing any fluid left on his brain to pass through. He's passing small motor skills tests thus far, so that's amazing to hear. Jeff will be on seizure meds for a month and need to be monitored closely as he heals.
