Hi everyone.
This fundraiser is because Jeff needs help with his medical bills for his kidney transplant.
For Jeff to move to the next level of the kidney transplant, he must have several more doctors visits and have several more tests done.
Jeff has Medicare which covers 40 percent of his medical bills. If he had Medicaid than they would cover the other 60 percent of the cost. He does not qualify for Medicaid because his disability payment every month is about $100 over the poverty guidelines to be eligible for Medicaid. Because Jeff does not qualify for Medicaid the bills are piling up because now there is to many doctors to see and to many visits to keep up with the bills.
Jeff started seeing the transplant doctors in March and already the bills have piled up to where there is no catching up without asking for help. Since March Jeff has already seen several doctors and had several different test done and they are coming at him faster than he or I can pay them.
For Jeff to level up in the kidney transplant process, he must continue to see these doctors for coordination of care because the kidney transplant center only takes care of the kidney transplant itself. This is only the first part of his medical costs. This is not even counting the transplant costs themselves. Those costs are going to be several thousands more but he just needs to get through the medical costs that have accumulated thus far and the visits that are in the next few months. Once we get past this part we can worry about the cost of the transplant itself.
Jeff has to see a kidney doctor, cardiologist, endocrinologist, a liver doctor, pediatrist, and PCP. All of these doctors require payments every time he goes to see them and unfortunately there is a balance due with each of them because its just to much to pay all at once. Now because their is a balance due with these doctors they will not set an appointment or see Jeff until paid in full. On top of this, he has to go to St Joe's for kidney transplant visits, which are $150 per visit. There are also several labs, x-rays, CT scans, and other testing that must be paid for. Since April, he made an effort to make as many payments towards these bills to the best of his ability but unfortunately its not enough.
For Jeff to get the kidney transplant, he must have all of these doctors, or St Joe's kidney transplant will not put him up for the kidney transplant because they do not manage each of these areas and each of these areas of care must be maintained through that specific doctor.
There is still so much more that has to be done before Jeff can be put on the transplant list.
Please let me know if you have any questions about Jeff's kidney transplant or his medical bills and I would be glad to explain more.
God bless
