This is Hannah Kazak on behalf of my husband Jeff Kazak. Jeff was exposed to COVID at his job and tested positive back on August 23rd after an exposure to a positive coworker on August 17th while on shift as a paramedic/firefighter. He is a part time and contract employee with his fire department. He was on a contract shift through the contracting company when he contracted COVID. They are now not responding to any of his contact attempts to have them cover this as a workers comp issue and will not pay him for his time off work or help with any of the hospital costs. Jeff was at an immediate care twice, an ER in Michigan, and finally the ER in Morris where he was immediately admitted to the ICU. Jeff has adenovirus which they believe happened due to his immune system being compromised from COVID which has caused him to have white out pneumonia in his right lung. Jeff just had a chest tube inserted today and is being transferred to Silver Cross hospital to be closer to a thoracic surgeon in case any further intervention is needed.
We hate to even ask our friends and family to help us with this. But Jeff has worked his butt off to get me to be able to be a stay at home mom and now with our sole income earner being out of commission for the foreseeable future it has caused a burden for us with worrying about paying for everyday bills and upcoming hospital bills. Any donations are much appreciated! Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers!
