Hello! This is Michael Roe of The 77s & The Lost Dogs.

If you know of Jeffrey Kotthoff, you know his heart for music, and if you know him personally, you know his heart for people. Since 2002, as the head of Lo-Fidelity Records, he’s been behind countless reissues and projects for artists like The 77s, Lost Dogs, The Throes, Michael Roe, Derri Daugherty, Kerosene Halo, Terry Taylor, Undercover, Adam Again, Altar Boys, Bill Mallonee & Vigilantes of Love, Mark Heard, Two Pound Planet, Dead Artist Syndrome, and Poor Old Lu. He’s booked tours, managed tours, and championed music that’s touched thousands of lives. At the same time, in his “other" life he’s spent the last 20 years doing direct care with those with developmental disabilities and mental illness. Now, it’s our turn to care for him.

For those that don't know, a while back Jeffrey suffered a massive heart attack while at his doctor’s office. He doesn’t remember much - only waking up in ICU to be told he’d been dead for a few minutes before paramedics brought him back with CPR and a defibrillator. Miraculously, he was at home just 3 days later, trying to process what had happened.

But the challenges didn’t stop there. He left his beloved Chicagoland for Saint Paul, MN to be closer to his young son. He started a remote job for a family owned tech company - a role that should have provided stability and time with his son. Instead, the owner and his business partner drained his and others finances and left the country escaping accountability. With little chance of recovering what was taken, Jeffrey has been left facing financial ruin.

Now he’s on the brink of losing his home. He’s sold his treasured record, guitar, and amp collections just to cover debts, and borrowed money to keep his nearly 30-year-old vehicle running and his monthly obligations paid. He’s diligently searching for work, but the situation is urgent.

We want to help meet his immediate needs, rebuild what’s been lost, and give him a foundation for the future - to keep his home, purchase a reliable vehicle, pay his debts and bills, and continue running Lo-Fidelity Records for years to come.

If Jeffrey has ever brought you joy through music, friendship, or community, please consider giving. Every dollar goes directly toward helping him. If you can't donate, sharing this page means the world to us. Any amount helps - and your support will help keep both the man and the music going.
