I’m fundraising for myself as I face stage 4 cancer and the out-of-pocket costs that come with treatment. What started with a hospital stay for a collapsed lung caused by pneumonia turned into something much bigger. While I was in the hospital, doctors did a scope down my throat to look for the cause of the acid reflux I had been dealing with for months. That is when they found a 10 cm mass in my esophagus. Testing showed it was cancerous, and further tests revealed that it had spread to my right adrenal gland.
Since then, my life has been centered around treatment. I receive chemotherapy infusions every other Friday, and each appointment means time away from work. I have already run out of PTO, so the days I miss are now unpaid. On top of the lost income, I am also dealing with copays and the cost of a second opinion that insurance did not cover, which I am paying in monthly installments.
This fundraiser will help me keep up with the ongoing out-of-pocket expenses tied to my cancer care, including copays, treatments, and tests I need. Because these costs continue over time, recurring donations would make a real difference in helping me manage treatment expenses and unpaid days from work from month to month. One-time donations are also deeply appreciated and would help relieve some of the financial pressure I am under right now.
If you are able to give or share this fundraiser, I would be truly grateful. Your support will help me focus more on treatment and less on how to cover the bills that come with it.
