Dear Family and friends,
Due to the rapidly changing circumstances, we wanted to update everyone. Following his diagnosis with Lewy Body Dementia and his host of other health problems, Jeff sadly reached the end of his life. We are planning to host a memorial service/celebration of life that we hope you can all attend.
Many of you might be aware that the last year and a half has devastated us financially, physically, and emotionally. Jeff and Lori were forced out of their house for a year due to water damage, during which time their first contractor died of Covid, and then they were subsequently defrauded by two contractors, one of whom has placed a lien on the house after he walked off the job. At the beginning of this chaos while living in a hotel, in January 2022, Jeff was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia, and a few weeks later was put on hospice care. Jeff and Lori moved 5 times in one year while Jeff was on hospice. Lori managed Jeff’s declining health while also dealing with lawyers, the state contracting board, police reports (after our identities were stolen via documents taken from the house), and all the difficulties that this situation has brought. Lori was extremely ill during this past year and sacrificed her health to take care of Jeff. She has not recovered yet.
We desperately need help restoring the plumbing so we have working bathrooms again. After being out of our house for a year due to water damage, Lori and Jeff were unable to get a renovation loan because of the vindictive lien and their attempt to take our home away from us. We are now in the process of fighting the lien. Jeff and Lori were forced out of the hotel when the insurance limit ran out, and came home so Jeff could spend his last days at home. They returned to a home that had no kitchen and no working bathrooms. We have tried to make it work as best as we can by bringing the garage utility sink into the kitchen, using bookcases as kitchen cabinets, and foldable tables as shelves. We’ve restored 1 partial bathroom after using potty chairs for quite a bit of time. With the unfortunate, untimely passing of Jeff, we need help to maintain the house through April. Lori would greatly appreciate any and all types of help. Kyle and Virginia will be moving in and leaving Phoenix in April to help Lori.
While it’s uncomfortable for us to ask this of you all, we need help covering the costs of his celebration of life in Escondido, California, legal costs to fight the attempt to take our home, along with restoring the plumbing. It would mean a lot to Kyle, Melissa, and I to be able to give Jeff the celebration he deserves, and we know he would want everyone to be together, to share old stories, memories and family time. We are so sad that this has happened so quickly, and so frustrated that our current circumstances have impeded our ability to do this on our own financially.
Sending all our love to you all,
Lori, Kyle, and Melissa Fisher
