In 2003, Jeff Jackson received an outrageous sentence of 25 years to life for non-violent burglary of unoccupied retail stores. Now, he has received clemency from the Governor and is finally coming home after more than 21 years.
Jeff is now a 56-year-old grandfather. During his incarceration, he became a certified paralegal, DOL-certified counseling aide, a leathercrafter, and a certified Inmate Program Associate, which allowed him to assist prison staff in programming. He also led multiple organizations, including the Association for Community Teamwork, mentoring younger men; Project for a Calculated Transition, facilitating seminars with Yale Law students; and the NAACP. He helped raise money for breast cancer awareness and co-founded a non-profit focused on connecting incarcerated people with their loved ones.
We are organizing this GoFundMe to help Jeff have a smooth transition while he navigates reentry and reestablishes his roots. The money will go towards everything he needs: cell phone, clothes, shoes, food, savings...and so much more. Let's help get him all the resources he needs to make his dream a reality!
