Jefferson Roberto Aguilar Guillen, an Angel, sent by God to this world on a 25th of Nov. of 1999, and as such, God wanted him back with Him a little bit before his 21st birthday on a 5th of Sept. 2020. Jeffrey or Jeffito as we call him, for those who didn’t have the honor to know him, is the youngest of 5 siblings who for the will of God was born with severe Cerebral Palsy and since his birth was afflicted by several ailments; however, he had the infinitely good fortune to be born to the best parents anyone could wish to have. Parents that in the same way did everything for their older children, dedicated their life together to the care of Jeffito giving up their own wellbeing, to mention just a few, to spend entire nights by his bedside at home or at a hospital, shed tears until there were no more, carry the suffering for the absence of their older children who for various reasons had to abandon their home country, briefly separate from Jeffito with profound pain to be able to see their older children once again but they always kept absolute trust in God that soon they will all be reunited again, to deal with the language barriers in the United States when seeking medical care for Jeffito, to have to push Jeffito’s wheelchair even when themselves were in pain due to their own illnesses; the list is endless but what doesn’t have an end is the strength, love and dedication that the parents had for Jeffito; at the same time they still found the same strength, love and compassion for other people in need during the almost 21 years of Jeffito’s life. Despite all the difficulties that the parents had to endure, for them it was and will always be a privilege to have done what they did for Jeffito.
Recognized with great happiness is the fact that difficulties are not the only things that we experienced as a family. Despite the fact that Jeffito never spoke a single word, his gestures of love and affection were limitless. A simple attempt to move his hands, a blinking, a smile, a tear, and a glance expressed a lot of feelings that filled our hearts with joy. Jeffito taught us that is possible to love without a tongue, feet and hands that function properly; those are body parts that we often take for granted and which are often used, by people with more advanced capabilities, to hurt other people instead of giving love.
The last days of Jeffito’s life were probably the most painful, in every sense of the word, that he and the family experienced. However, Jeffito departed in peace and comfort and most important of all surrounded by love from his parents and siblings. With unbeatable pain, we had to let him go to the Kingdom of God where we hope to see him once more and it consoles us to know that he will suffer no more.
The Aguilar-Guillen family is infinitely thankful with all our relatives and friends for their support in these difficult times and we wish with all our heart the biggest blessings for your families.
