Jefferey Dale Ellis was a son, dad, brother, uncle, grandfather, and a friend to many.

This Gofundme page is simply a way for us to try and honor my dad in a way that showcases his desires and wishes he shared with me before he passed. My father would have rather not had a big expensive service or party but would have prefered that any money spent on such things would be better suited to save for Marlene to try and make sure she was taken care of.  We have chosen  not have a formal service for my father and will be celebrating his life with a personal service for family and close friends.

My father did not have a lot to his name when he passed in part to numerous circumstances revolving around health issues and the unforseen loss of our mother so early on in their marriage. I beleieve my father did his best to raise us and good people while surviving with his own broken heart. My twin sister and I were just barely two years old when my father lost the love of his life. He had his hands full with four children and a void in his heart left by the sudden death of our mother Margaret. The black and white photo posted here was taken by a photographer for the local newspaper shortly after the death of my mother.

My father through out the years had to rely heavily on the medical benfits provided to him by the United States Veterans Services, He served four years with the USMC and also served a tour in Vietnam. The VA coverage he had only tended to his medical coverage and he recieved no pension or compensation from the VA. Even at the peak of our fathers health problems the VA would require him to make appointments in Richmond, VA (almost 2 hours away). Our father being bullheaded most of the time would not even tell us he had to drive that far for appoiontments because he did not want to 'burden'us. He knew any of us would do what we could to get him there but he chose not to involve us most of the time. After reviewing the VA benifits thoroughly we have concluded there is zero benefit afforded to our father for having fought for our country in his time of death.

Although our father did not have much when he passed he would have given even a stranger the shirt off his back if they needed it. The one thing that he did have in abundance was LOVE. He gave that out to anybody who wanted it. No matter how quick or short the phonecall you always heard "Love you" at the end of it.  And if you were around him you got touched at some point (us Ellis's are touchy people). We know there are plenty of things people ask for money on here but we fell that if anybody gives anything in honor of our father we will make sure that it is used in only a way our father would have hoped for it to be used. We truly believe that our father would have given the World to his granddaughter Marlene if he could have so we are just asking for folks to give a piece of it in lieu of flowers or other contributions.

If you are unable to give or do not want to give...no biggy. We still love you the same.
