Jeff Black - Reach for Recovery

Jeff Black passed away in the early hours of Sunday, February 11. Thanks to all of you who lifted Jeff with your prayers, sent cards and messages, and donated so generously to his recovery fund. Funds will be administered by Jeff's daughter, Marci, in settling his final expenses.

Jeff Black is a big guy - a man large in stature with an even bigger personality. Always ready with a joke or a story, he makes everyone laugh. He loves and cherishes his beautiful family, his amazing friends, his adorable pup JD, and the Texas Rangers (well that is more of a love/hate relationship!).
On Christmas Day, Jeff became ill and made this Facebook post, "Prayer request for me, having gall stones removed today". He had no idea what a serious ordeal he was facing: the infection in his gall bladder would move rapidly to his pancreas and then spread toxins through his entire body, bringing sepsis and an uncertain prognosis. In a medically induced coma, he remained in intensive care for three weeks, fighting for his life.
And the big guy made it! Against daunting odds, he beat the infection but is still facing a prolonged recovery, including dialysis for renal failure and surgery to remove his gall bladder.
In simple terms - Jeff needs our help. According to his doctors, recovery will take months - months with no income and mounting medical and personal expenses. He has already cut back by giving up his apartment.
As his friend, I want to help and I am sure most of you will want to help as well. This fund goal is ambitious, but please remember that you can spread your contributions over several months. Funds will be administered by Jeff's daughter, Marci, with all contributions going directly to assist Jeff as he takes the road to recovery.
