Jeff Prettyman relocation expenses

Hi friends! I’m sure you remember the fundraiser that I started for my cousin Jeff less than two weeks ago on May 9. Within one day, on May 10, the fundraiser had reached its first goal of $1000. On May 14 we surpassed or second goal of $2000. The fundraiser is up to $2815 thanks to 36 donations! We are trying to get it to surpass our current goal of $3000. We are so close. Here are some words from my cousin Jeff about what they have spent the money on and what they plan to buy. Please continue to donate and share, even if it is just five dollars. “Since we have the plane tickets bought, the Uber rides to and from airport covered, Danny got me a recliner and some odds and ends for the apartment with the money. He also found me a used in decent condition wheelchair for when I get out there for just Incase scenarios.

We are going to keep the GoFundMe going for a little more to help with moving in costs like first months rent, getting electricity turned on and we are still looking at beds and bedding. Also since my illness I have lost 130lbs and my clothes are literally falling off me and I might need some new clothes. I am going to FL with only a few suitcases and the clothes on my back, I have to start over again with almost nothing. Please tell everyone that I thank them for their contributions. Never realized that people I don't even know care enough to help out a virtual stranger, I'm touched.”

I am going to raise the goal to $3000, and add a little bit more information from my cousin Danny: “About a year and half ago to get away from the Florida heat my brother Jeff moved to Grand Forks ND. At that moment he was totally healthy before his move. He was enjoying himself but then he got real sick and was diagnosed with liver cancer which had spread from his intestines.

Jeff is alone with no family or anyone to take care of him up there. Lives alone on disability with very little money. The cancer is causing a long list of medical issues. I visited him a week or so ago and noticed he is really having a lot of problems getting to and from doctors and getting the proper food delivery and just lots of bad things.

I am going back up to fly him down to me here in Florida to keep him close to help him with his medical condition . So in a couple more weeks I'll go back and pack him up. This gofundme set up by my cousin is to help with all the expenses that he will have including transportation to Fargo to fly back to Florida from a very remote part of North Dakota. It is very expensive to move from Grand Forks. He will have to fly nonstop with his condition and will have travel to Fargo for the flights. Getting him a new comfortable bed and day to day stuff to live on will be needed. Has nothing but the clothes he will pack.

Update: we have reached our goal of $1000 within the first 24 hours. I am in tears as I write this, what an amazing community we have, thank you guys so much!

I added a current picture of my cousin Jeff :) We are going to raise the goal to $2000 due to some unforeseen, increased expenses. Here is some more information about my cousin Jeff from his brother Danny:

”Please consider helping my brother out. This was so unexpected. He left Florida and said he was done with the hot weather. He moved to North Dakota for some cooler weather and was really enjoying it until he got real sick with cancer that had spread from his intestines to his liver. The treatment centers in ND are not what they are here back in Florida. He is alone and struggles all the time with just the basic things we all take for granted. He needs to be with family during this time for our help. He gets dizzy and nauseous all the time and can barely eat anymore. I will be traveling back to get him real soon to remove him from the cold frigid winters.

Considering he has to fly back with me. We’ll have to Uber from Grand Forks to Fargo ($100) so we can get nonstop airfare for him and I is about $500 from Fargo to Sanford international. He needs money for a new bed frame and mattress. He’s only bringing clothes. He will need all he can get. The more the better. His move in cost for his place for the first month with security deposit and fees is $1700.”

Hi! my name is Dawn Linthicum, I am Jeff Prettyman’s cousin. Jeff (the cute redhead) has been diagnosed liver cancer and hypotension which gives him extremely low blood pressure, which makes him lose his balance and he can’t stand for long periods of time. He is living alone in a remote area of North Dakota, where there is still snow on the ground! He is having trouble doing all of his activities of daily living due to his disease. Jeff needs to be immediately moved closer to his brother, my cousin Danny (the cute blonde), in Florida. Danny will be able to help him with his daily tasks, and Jeff will be closer to the Mayo Clinic In Jacksonville where he can get much needed treatment.
