Jeff Langmeier - Legless in Minnesota
Donation protected
As you may have seen in Jeff's facebook posts, my brother Jeff will be having his remaining leg amputated in the next month. Jeff lost his left leg 2009 due to an infection. His current leg has been broke and he has a foot disease which cannot be cured. The surgeons recommend amputating it and cutting more of his left leg. He will have to recuperate, obviously, without much use of his body. He will need to learn how to move himself into and out of a wheelchair. I think we all know that with Jeff's 6' 5" frame, it probably won't be easy. OK I guess he'll be shorter but it still won't be easy. He will be wheelchair bound until Dr's feel they can make prosthetics. The best case scenario is that he will get two awesome prosthetics and will be able to walk with only a cane or walker. As you have seen, his attitude is tremendous. I think we have shed more tears than he has. He has great support from his wife Kris and kids Hannah, Dylan and Libby. Jeff has always been the one to build on their house, plow the snow, mow the yard, fix the cars and move large things - even with his one prosthetic. But it is going to take a long time before he can do those things again or if he can with 2 prosthetics. The reason for go fund me is that I have been asked by some people how they can help. Jeff and Kris are needing modifications to their two story house. This is life changing for him and I know they could use some help with labor and supplies. If anyone wishes to donate that is great but even just sharing thoughts (and the necessary leg jokes - we have to keep him laughing!) will help. This is hard for me to ask and I know it's hard for him to ask for help. Thank you for listening. Is the title too much? Glen also suggested Footless in Faribault.
