Jeff Kaus Transitional Fund

My Father and Kadence’s Grandfather, Jeff Kaus passed away on Sunday 1212/21, at age 68. We are still in shock by his sudden passing, yet we are all riding the waves of emotions. In one moment I’m fine, taking care of all the details, the next I feel a huge wave of bewilderment, sadness, grief, love and gratitude… it’s a strange cocktail of feelings all rolling together.

 

We are grateful that the universe has been kind and everything has been unfolding smoothly, with as much grace and ease as possible. There have been several signs and synchronicities along our path this week and we are deeply listening to the guidance we are receiving.

 

Kadence has been so supportive and loving for me, saying things like; “if you need to cry dad, you can” and “take a deep breath and remember the good memories of JPa”. I am so grateful that he has been his little Buddha self through this process. He loved his JPa very much.

 

Jeff passed away in a solo car accident. Thankfully no one else was involved or injured.

 

It was simply a very stormy night, an embankment, a tree and no seat belt worn. We believe he became unconscious and just kept driving right through the stop sign at the intersection of Guerneville Road and Highway 116.

We feel that it was immediate and he left quickly, with no pain, at least that is what we wish for him.

 

Unfortunately he did not leave behind a will or trust and we are navigating the waters of taking care of all of this affairs. The details keep coming and we aren’t sure what it will take to complete the process.

 

What we do know is that the cremation and memorial costs could be upwards of $3-5k and our probate attorney will be approximately $4-6k to take care of all the details. Even though there may be a bit of support from insurance and such, it will be months before I would receive it. My father‘s estate will not become available to me until after the probate process is complete which could take a minimum of six months. This all comes at a time when I am already feeling a financial pinch from our own house construction/ replacing our leaking roof and just unfortunate timing for additional financial responsibilities. Any support to help cover these new unexpected obligations would be greatly and humbly appreciated.

 

If there is an excess after all fees and bills are paid, we will put the remainder of your generous donations into an educational fund for my son Kadence. This was something Jeff was hoping to do for his grandson and just hadn’t yet.

 

So many of you have told us, “please let me know if there is anything we can do for you during this time”, and so our request is for some financial assistance to get us through this portal to the other side, with his estate  in tact.

 

We are moving through our own financial difficulties right now and anything you can offer towards taking care of all these details would be graciously accepted and appreciated. Honestly I do feel a bit awkward to ask for this, however this is one way you can help support my family during this time.

 

We thank our community for all of the loving words and condolences you have offered already. We will be hosting a memorial for Jeff at some point mid-end of January 2022 and would appreciate any assistance you can offer in co-creating a beautiful and memorable Celebration of Life Ceremony. We honor his life and the legacy he has left behind. We love you JPa!
