Jeff Hamner's Liver Transplant Journey
Donation protected
Many know Jeff as a kind-hearted, big lovable man who will help anyone at the drop of a hat. He has selflessly given countless hours of love and dedication over the years to help others.
In Jeff’s efforts to live a healthier life, he underwent gastric bypass surgery in December 2020. Jeff has lost a total of 135lbs on his weight loss journey, however, the downside to this is, over the years of carrying an extreme amount of excess weight, his liver has been tirelessly overworked. His liver is now failing. Jeff recently spent 8 days in the hospital to stabilize his gallbladder and liver because surgery to remove the gallbladder would cause immediate, full liver failure. So Dr's placed a drain tube from the gallbladder to the outside of Jeff's abdomen to continue to drain the gallbladder bile. Jeff is now undergoing medical work up to be placed on the list for a liver transplant.
Due to the extreme medical repercussions of liver failure, Jeff is unable to work and is currently awaiting disability from his job. This illness continues to take a toll on him medically, emotionally, physically, and financially.
We are not good with reaching out for help, however, many have asked us what they can do to help and at this time, our greatest need is financial assistance to help cover daily expenses and uncovered medical and dental costs associated with preparations for his transplant surgery.
We are also in great need of your prayers.
We would greatly appreciate any amount of donation and all prayers you may be able to graciously gift to us.
We will keep everyone posted on Jeff's liver transplant journey.
We have created a Facebook group to keep friends, family, and loved ones up to date on his current status. Feel free to join this group by following the link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/289823869442882
Jeff has both good days where he is able to stay awake most hours of the day and bad days where he suffers from dementia-like episodes. I believe by sharing with others, we can keep the prayers going. Your kind words are fuel to keep Jeff motivated to keep moving forward. We feel confident he will be able to be out on the lake and fishing again, once he receives a donor's liver.
Again, we ask that you please continue to pray for Jeff's healing of a successful liver transplant process and we greatly appreciate from the bottom of our hearts any amount you can donate to go towards this terrifying journey that has become a reality in our lives.
