Jeff Gordon Fight Against ALS Fund

Donation protected
Jeff Gordon is not a race car driver.  Jeff Gordon is the 52 year old, beloved husband of Debbie Gordon.  He is the proud father of Maddie (17) and Jeffery (14).  He is a son, a brother, an uncle, a cousin, and if you’re lucky like me, he is a lifelong friend. He is a coach, a booster and a volunteer.  He is a valued employee of the US Army.  He is a former Marine who proudly served our nation during the Gulf War.  He is kind. He is hardworking.  He is clever.  He is considerate. He is humble. He is grateful.  He is freakin' hilarious and he is a certified bad ass.

Jeff Gordon has ALS.
It started with a slight limp, then a few twitches, and there was weight loss that couldn’t be explained by his pandemic regiment of carry out, pastries, and couch surfing.  With encouragement from Debbie (he is a man after all ) he began to seek medical consult to help him figure out what was happening.  Countless doctor appointments, physical therapy sessions, scans, needles and tests eventually narrowed down the possibilities to just one.
In November of 2020 (I hate that damn year!!!!) he was given the diagnosis of ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.  ALS is a fast-progressing neurodegenerative disease that affects the nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord causing loss of muscle control.  This eventually results in the loss of the ability to walk, the use of hands, speech, ability to swallow and eventually the loss of the ability to breath.  ALS patients typically pass away between 2 to 5 years after diagnosis. This debilitating disease also comes with a massive financial burden. Estimates on annual healthcare costs range up to $200,000 and can vary depending on the stage of the illness. Indirect costs and loss of income also add to the economic impact of the disease.  It appears as though Jeff’s condition is progressing more rapidly than first anticipated.
Jeff is an intricate member of the lacrosse community with both Lake Orion and Omnia Lacrosse. He has helped by either coaching or advocating for these programs and despite his diagnosis continues to be active in them

Jeff is truly one of the best people I know.  He has love in his heart for everyone, but he has always been a fighter when he needed to be. If there was ever a friend, family member, or even a stranger in need, he had their back.  Now he is fighting like hell for himself, and for his family.  He does so with courage, faith and resolve. He and his family are pursuing every avenue they can for assistance.  They have petitioned the Veterans Administration for his benefits, they are vigorously seeking, and adhering to protocols of their trusted doctors and now, they have mustered the strength to ask you to join in his fight.

Your prayers and well wishes are needed, and greatly appreciated.  So are any monetary contributions you feel comfortable making.  All proceeds will go directly to covering expenses related to his diagnosis and improving his quality of life as his physical abilities wane.  Please do what you can to ease their minds and help lighten the enormous financial burden that comes with this diagnosis.
