Jeff's mother, Mei-Ya Chang, was a loving mother and dedicated community member who spent her life volunteering with community organizations and caring for others. Sadly, her eldest son, Kenneth Fon, passed away on September 28, and Mary passed away 2 days later on September 30, 2025.

We are broken-hearted and completely overwhelmed. Those of you who know us know Jeff has been permanently disabled these last 2 years, and I have been caring for him. When Mei-Ya first became ill, we cared for her at home until her need was so great that she needed around-the-clock nursing care. Her son Ken was with Mary every day in this last year of her life while she was in hospice, and it is tragic that they passed so closely to each other.

We were already struggling—but now we need help to make sure Mary is taken care of.

We are only asking for the costs of Mei-Ya's funeral—that need to be paid by the 16th. The funeral home has already provided us with discounts, and we chose the simplest options for her that are respectful of her final wishes.
