Jeff Divito's Battle

When Deputy Jeff DiVito joined the Chester County Sheriff’s Office in the fall of 2001, he brought a wealth of experience. In addition to a part-time job with the Caln Township Police Department, he had worked as a security supervisor for QVC and was a certified EMT. He earned his Act 120 certification from Montgomery County Community College’s Police Academy, but he also had a degree in graphic arts from the Hussian School of Art in Philadelphia.
Jeff, who also works as a driver’s ed instructor, quickly began adding accolades to those credentials at the Sheriff’s Office. A member of the firearms unit, Jeff was routinely recognized for going above and beyond. Once, when a colleague was attacked, Jeff jumped a wall to provide assistance. The office routinely tapped his art expertise whenever graphics were needed for vehicles. Last year, Jeff demonstrated his drive for perfection during a challenging 80-hour motorcycle course at the Philadelphia Police Training Bureau. His colleagues were not surprised when the longtime cycling enthusiast excelled in the course, subsequently joining the Chester County Sheriff’s Office Wheels Unit.
Recently, Jeff suddenly found himself facing a much bigger challenge: a diagnosis of adenocarcinoma. Anticipating the high cost of treatment, his family, friends and co-workers are now trying to help him defray those expenses.
After all, sometimes even a super hero needs a little help.
